The first written accounts of Hungarian language date back to 10th century. Initially the Latin alphabet was used to write the Hungarian language. However during the 13th century, text in Hungarian language started to appear. It is only in 19th century that the Hungarian literature flourished as the language was reformed with the efforts of Ferenc Kazinczy. In fact, in the year 2002, Imre Kertész became the first Hungarian author who received the Nobel Prize for Literature.
